The National Endoscopy Database (NED) is a joint initiative between Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on gastrointestinal endoscopy, British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS) and Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI), owned and hosted by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). The NED committee oversees the development and progression of NED. The committee is comprised of JAG staff and a committed team of representatives from the following groups:

Since the very beginning, the NED committee has worked together with the main ERS companies to support the implementation and roll out of NED nationally. NED in fact serves as a mutually beneficial collaboration with ERS companies by simultaneously improving both ERS clinical utility and NED functionality. Continued work on improving NED data permits a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement and innovation. |

NED service champions |

The NED service champion is an honorary role that involves acting as the point of contact for NED-related queries from endoscopists within their endoscopy unit, while promoting and encouraging the use of NED. The responsibilities of this role include:

Any individual who is interested in becoming a NED service champion should speak to their endoscopy manager, endoscopy lead or unit manager. Unit managers should also approach any member of staff they think would be suitable for the role and has capacity within their work schedule.
